GENERAL HISTORY AND PURPOSES

The Surplus Line Association of Colorado was originally formed and commenced operation on January 1, 1982, as a non-profit, non-stock corporation pursuant to the Colorado Corporation Code, the Colorado Non-profit Corporation Act of 1961. The purposes, as stated in its Articles of Incorporation.

To promote, promulgate, and support sound principals and practices in the transaction of the business of surplus line insurance underwriting in the State of Colorado;

To promote and encourage confidence and good feeling among its members; to promote a high standard of integrity and service by its members; and,

To support and promote good public relations.

To provide ongoing interest in the surplus lines industry via continuing education to retail producers and sponsorship of undergraduate and graduate education at University of Colorado.
